Free Special Display of a High-Definition Reproduction of Hokusai's Painting "Fuji Den'en Keizu" at the Sumida Hokusai Museum

At the Sumida Hokusai Museum, a high-definition reproduction of Katsushika Hokusai's "Fuji Den'en Keizu (View of Mt. Fuji and Rural Landscape)" created by the Tsuzuri Project (Cultural Heritage Inheritance Project) will go on special display. The run is from Tuesday, June 23, 2026 to Sunday, August 30, 2026, the venue is the foyer on the 3rd floor of the museum, and admission is free. "Fuji Den'en Keizu" is a hand-painted work (nikuhitsuga) depicting a magnificent rural landscape with Mt. Fuji visible in the distance, and it is thought to date from around 1831, the same period as his representative print series "Thirty-Six Views of Mt. Fuji." It is also one of the pieces shown at the first Hokusai exhibition in history, held in Boston in 1893. The original painting is in the collection of the Smithsonian National Museum of Asian Art. It's a chance to enjoy Hokusai's rendering of Mt. Fuji up close at the museum in Kamezawa, Ryogoku.
