Grand Sumo's August 24 Summer Tour Heads to Kumagaya — the Kokugikan Museum and Shop Are Closed

According to the Japan Sumo Association's official website, the schedule for the day announced on August 24, 2026 has the Grand Sumo summer regional tour taking place in Kumagaya City. The Kokugikan in Ryogoku has no tournament or other events scheduled that day, so the Sumo Museum will be closed and the shop will be shut as well — please keep that in mind before you head out. On this day, Kotobukinofuji, ranked fourth in the juryo division, celebrates his 26th birthday. On TV, Nippon TV's "Ariyoshi Zemi" is scheduled from 19:00 on August 24, NHK General's "Sports × Human: Grand Sumo – Tamawashi" from 1:55 a.m. on the 26th, and Fuji TV's "Uwasa no Okyakusama" from 19:00 on the 28th. In addition, ticket information for the Grand Sumo Kyushu Tournament was released on August 7, and information on tickets for the November tournament and on group applications for parties of 12 or more is also being provided.
