Ueno's National Museum of Nature and Science: Everything from Permanent Exhibitions to Learning Programs for Every Generation

At the National Museum of Nature and Science in Ueno, just a short trip from Asakusa, the permanent exhibitions are open from 9:00 to 17:00. The Japan Gallery, with the theme "Nature of the Japanese Islands and Us," introduces the origins of the Japanese archipelago, the process by which the Japanese people were formed, and their relationship with nature, while the Global Gallery, themed "History of Life on Earth and Humankind," presents the connections between living things, the path of the evolution of life, and the history of human wisdom. There are also outdoor exhibits, the "Kahaku Monogatari Wagon," and "Tanken Hiroba Compass," which parents and children can enjoy together. On the learning side, events and courses are prepared to suit each audience, from preschoolers and elementary school students to junior high and high school students, university students, and people involved with schools and museums. Digital content that can be enjoyed at home, such as Kahaku VR and the Kahaku Channel, is also plentiful. Inside the museum there is a museum shop, the restaurant "Mouseion," and rest areas, and barrier-free information as well as crowding conditions can be checked on the official website.
