"Toyokan Special Yose 2026" to Be Held at Asakusa Toyokan — On August 31, the Famous "Tōyōkan" Sweet Is a Gift, Too

At Asakusa Toyokan, a 30-second walk from Asakusa Station on the Tsukuba Express, "Toyokan Special Yose 2026" will be held on August 31, 2026. The lineup features 15 acts (listed in Japanese syllabic order), including Kuniko Yamada, Obon & Kobon, Oxygen, and Yurioka Chotokkyu‼. Everyone who enters by 1:30 p.m. that day will receive one of the venue's specialty "Tōyōkan (東羊羹)" per person as a gift. In the late-August run (shimoseki), the members of the Tokyo Engei Association will take the stage on the 24th (Mon.), and a notice has been posted about a change of performers on the 25th (Tue.). Tickets are same-day only, priced at 3,000 yen for adults, 2,500 yen for students, and 1,500 yen for children. There is no clearing of the audience between shows, but re-entry is not allowed, and visitors are asked to refrain from bringing in alcoholic beverages. Toyokan opened in 1951 (Showa 26) as "Asakusa France-za," and today it is the only iromono yose theater in Tokyo, with performances every day.
