Mukojima Five-Town Joint Mikoshi Procession to Gather on Koume-dori Street, September 20
The "Mukojima Five-Town Joint Mikoshi Procession," held in conjunction with the Ushijima Shrine festival, will take place on September 20 on Koume-dori Street (in front of Mukojima 3-chome, No. 44). Five neighborhood associations will take part: Mukojima 2-3-chome, Mukojima 3-chome, Mukojima 4-chome South, Koume 2-chome, and Koume 3-chome. Each association's mikoshi (portable shrine) will gather together and parade through the streets, accompanied by the lively chants of the bearers. The event kicks off at 2:30 PM. The Koume 3-chome neighborhood association is currently recruiting mikoshi bearers—participants should gather in front of the Shinshusho (sacred sake offering site) at 1:00 PM, with departure scheduled for 1:15 PM. Traditional hanten festival coats are available for rent at the neighborhood association hall for 1,000 yen each. Announced on September 14, 2026.
