Entries Wanted for the "Senryu Contest" from Taito City, the Birthplace of Senryu — Theme: "Ichiban (Number One)"
From Taito City, the birthplace of senryu, entries are now being accepted for a "Senryu Contest." The deadline is Sunday, January 12, 2025 (Reiwa 7), and anyone can take part, from children to seniors. The theme is "Ichiban (Number One)." It isn't limited to the top of a ranking — the contest is looking for poems about the "number one" you yourself have felt, in any genre at all, such as your most brilliant moment or the joy of a victory you won. Entries can be submitted through the form on the dedicated website (https://asakusa-senryu.com/), or by dropping your poem into the entry box beside the Grand Staircase of the Asakusa View Hotel (3-17-1 Nishi-Asakusa), up to three poems per person. In addition to the work itself, you must clearly state your area of residence, name, phone number, email address, the name of the poetry group (kukai) you belong to, and so on. Entries are limited to unpublished works created by the entrant. The contest is organized by the Kokusai-dori Koeikai (Asakusa Kokusai-dori Shopping Street Federation), with the support of Taito City.
