Ueno Zoo to Hold Event Commemorating 'International Slow Loris Day'
Ueno Zoo will hold an event related to 'International Slow Loris Day.' September 13 marks the day slow lorises were moved to the stricter protection category 'Appendix I' under the Washington Convention (CITES), and conservation groups established this date as a commemorative day. The zoo keeps Sunda slow lorises and lesser slow lorises, and keeper talks will be held. Talks about the Sunda slow loris will take place on September 9, 11, 12, and 13 at 2:00 PM in front of 'Yoru no Mori' (Night Forest) in the East Garden, each lasting 10 minutes. Talks about the lesser slow loris will take place on September 8, 9, 11, and 12 at 3:00 PM in front of the basement floor (B1) of the Small Animal House in the West Garden, also each lasting 10 minutes. Announced on September 5, 2026.
