"Tatsuyon Saien" Garden Opens in Sumida's Tachikawa – Growing Vegetables in Scrapped Cars

It was announced that on September 5, 2026, "Tatsuyon Saien," a garden using scrapped cars as planters, opened on a vacant lot in Tachikawa 4-chome, Sumida Ward. This is part of a project for the "Sumida Gosai Art Festival." On the opening day, families with children planted seedlings of vegetables such as green onions, arugula, and mizuna, which can be harvested in about three months. The garden is also collaborating with "Tamonji Exchange Farm" in the ward, and onion seedlings will be distributed on September 12. On November 29, a harvest festival called "Long Table Gohan" will be held, where people plan to bring the vegetables they grew and enjoy them together. The exhibition will run until December 20, with free admission.
