"Senryu Contest" on the Theme of Asakusa — Entries Accepted Until January 18, Reiwa 8 (2026)
Taito City, said to be the birthplace of senryu, is now accepting entries for a "Senryu Contest." The deadline is Sunday, January 18, Reiwa 8 (2026). The theme is "Asakusa." Anyone can take part, from children to the elderly, and each person may submit up to three verses. To enter, you can either post through the entry form on the official website (https://asakusa-senryu.com/) or drop your verse into a submission box. The submission box is scheduled to be set up in mid-December beside the grand staircase of the Asakusa View Hotel (3-17-1 Nishi-Asakusa, Taito City), and any paper format is fine. However, there may be times when it is not set up due to management reasons, and it will not be in place over the year-end and New Year holidays. When entering, in addition to the work itself, you must clearly state the area where you live, your name (along with your senryu pen name, if you have one), phone number, email address, and the name of the senryu group, school, or circle you belong to. Works must be unpublished pieces created by the entrant themselves. The contest is organized by the Kokusai-dori Koeikai (Asakusa Kokusai-dori Shopping Street Federation), with support from Taito City.
