Grand Memorial Service for the Nine Sacred Buddhas Held at Sensoji Temple's Yogodo Hall

At Yogodo Hall of Sensoji Temple, the "Nine Sacred Buddhas" are enshrined, consisting of Kannon (the Goddess of Mercy) along with eight other Buddhas who support her activities, including the Thousand-Armed Kannon Bodhisattva and Kokuzo Bodhisattva. While a memorial service (horaku) is held daily after the morning service at the Main Hall, July 7th is a special day once a year when all the chief priests of the temple complex gather to solemnly perform a grand ceremony. This year, too, the Grand Memorial Service for the Nine Sacred Buddhas was held on this day. Announced September 1, 2026.
