About 600 Lanterns Glow Magically in the Rain at Tower View Street Shopping District

The "Evening Cool Lantern Walk" was held on August 29 at the Tower View Street shopping district in Taihei, Sumida Ward. About 600 lanterns decorated with drawings and messages by local children, residents, and shops lined the street, filling the venue with colorful lights. Although it rained on that day, visitors enjoyed the lanterns while sheltering from the rain under plastic sheets. When the rain stopped around 8 PM, a view of Tokyo Skytree appeared through the lanterns, creating a fantastical night scene with the lights reflecting on the wet pavement.
