Ibaraki's Pear 'Keisui' Mobile Sales Truck Appears at Asakusa ROX

A mobile sales truck called "Kyuri-sha," selling Ibaraki Prefecture's original pear variety "Keisui," appeared in front of the 1st floor entrance of Asakusa ROX on August 26 and 27. Cut Keisui pears were sold for 200 yen per cup, and whole pears were sold for 800 yen each. An experience corner was also set up where visitors could touch ice pillars containing pears to cool off. Keisui is a large pear variety from Ibaraki Prefecture that took 17 years to develop, characterized by its strong sweetness with a sugar content of about 13 degrees. A prefectural official said they wanted to gauge the reaction in Asakusa, a place that is both a tourist destination and closely connected to the daily life of the old downtown area. Announced on August 28, 2026.
