Elementary Schoolers Run "Kids' Country" in Sumida Ward, Economic Experience Event Underway

At Chiba University's Sumida Satellite Campus (1 Bunka, Sumida Ward), an event called "Natsu no Asobi Daigaku" (Summer Play University) is being held, where children learn about economics, politics, and manufacturing by running their own country. The event is organized by the NPO "Asobi Kenkyukai" (Play Research Association). Five children in grades 4-6 serve as lawmakers running the "Kids' Country," while participants enjoy games and shopping using the currency called "Kids." For manufacturing activities, offcut materials called "Sumida Kara," provided by local factories in Sumida Ward, are being used. A national satisfaction survey and mystery-solving activities are also planned. The event is scheduled to run until August 28, but registration has already closed as capacity has been reached.
